No-Spend Challenge Tracker
A no-spend challenge is simple: for 30 days, you skip every purchase that isn’t a true essential. This tracker keeps you honest and shows you what you gain. You mark each day, note what tempted you, and watch your estimated savings add up.

Use this tracker to break impulse-spending habits, reset after an expensive month, or build momentum toward a savings goal. Logging your triggers matters as much as the streak. After a week or two, you’ll see patterns, like late-night online shopping or a daily coffee run, that you can plan around.
What’s included
- Spreadsheet (.xlsx): a 30-day log with automatic totals. It works in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Rules sheet: a place to define what’s allowed, what’s off-limits, and any exceptions before you start.
- Printable PDF: a one-page version to fill out by hand.
How to use it
- Set your rules first. On the Rules tab, review the suggested allowed and not-allowed lists. Write down any exceptions and a low-cost reward for finishing.
- Enter your start date and usual daily spend. Type them into the tinted cells at the top of the Tracker tab. The dates fill in for you. Your daily spend is used to estimate savings, so a realistic number works best.
- Log every day. Choose Yes if you spent nothing non-essential, or No if you slipped. Yes turns green and No turns red.
- Note your triggers. Write down what tempted you, even on successful days. If you slipped, add the amount you spent and what you’ll try next time.
- Check your progress. The tiles at the top show days completed, slip days, success rate, estimated savings, and money spent on slip days.
Using the PDF? Print it, write your start date and goal at the top, and fill in one row per day. Add up your totals at the bottom when you finish.
Tips for success
- Tell someone about your challenge. Accountability helps.
- Plan meals and errands ahead so you aren’t buying on the fly.
- If you slip, log it and carry on the next day. One slip doesn’t end the challenge.
- Save the money you didn’t spend right away, such as a transfer to savings, so it doesn’t disappear.
Note: Estimated savings are based on the daily amount you enter. This tracker is for personal organization only and isn’t financial advice.
